We close the year with one of our ever-popular family concerts. In our family concerts we aim to present a range of accessible classical pieces for the whole family to enjoy, but without 'dumbing down' the experience - we play unedited works full of life and complexity.

This year we are featuring works that feature just one section of the orchestra - the iconic Copland Fanfare for the Common Man gives our brass and percussion a chance to shine, the beautiful Strauss Serenade is scored for winds, and the Tchaikovsky Andante Cantabile for strings features Tchaikovsky's instantly recognisable dance-like melodies.

We also feature music from the iconic 1960s Australian childrens TV show, 'The Adventures of Sebastian the Fox'; the score was composed by George Dreyfus, who went on to become one of Australia's best known composers. The piece features a narrated story to add to the enjoyment - and perhaps nostalgia for our older patrons!.

This is not a concert that will feature lots of audience participation (as we have done in previous years), but we can promise wonderful music for everyone to enjoy, presented in a less formal atmosphere than our usual concerts.
